Prepare
Yourself For An Influx Of College-Age Benes
BUFFALO,
NY (Managed Care Wire): The end of August doesn't
just bring crowds of students to college campuses;
it could also bring them to your door. More and
more colleges and private universities are making
health insurance a requirement for students, reports
Buffalo Business First.
Approximately
25 percent of public and 90 percent of private
institutions will require students to have health
insurance before they can enroll in classes, reports
Business First. And only about half of those students
will have coverage under their parents' health
insurance plans as dependents. As a result, many
students and families will wonder how they can
afford to pay for health insurance, reports Business
First.
But
colleges want students to be covered because it
protects the universities from liabilities. This
means that you'll have new customers -- both colleges
looking for plans and college students looking
for individual plans.
